What can I do to stop my toddler from hitting other kids?

I have a 2 year old daughter (only child) that out of the blue will hit a kid... either pinch or pull hair.... She doesnt like to share either.. My husband and I are very loving to her. We hug her, kiss her, and tell her we love her ALL the time! Is this just normal for kids her age who arent really around other children?

It is not only normal for her to hit, slap, and kick other kids, it is common for her to do this to you too. My daughter used to slap me, for no reason. I think they are just looking for a reaction and figuring out their boundaries. I thought she'd never stop doing that, but after about a month, she stopped and has never done that again. When she hits you or another child, simply remove her away from everyone and sit her down by herself on a chair or on one end of the couch so she cannot join in on the fun. She will learn that if she wants to play with others she must behave and act nice. All children want to be included in playtime, so be sure to play with her or allow her to join in on the fun when her time-out is over. Hang in there MOM, she will grow out of this and be onto a new phase in no time. They grow too fast...what I wouldn't give for my daughter to be 2 again! Be consistant!
